Help

Frequently asked. Frequently answered.

The short version of how StreetShare works. Can't find what you're looking for? Email support.

Getting started

What is StreetShare?
StreetShare is a mobile and web app for sharing any file via QR code. Upload, get a QR, hand it to whoever's standing next to you. They scan it, they get the file. No app or account needed on the recipient's side.
Where can I get the app?
StreetShare is available free on the App Store and Google Play. Sign-up happens inside the mobile app — there's no separate web sign-up.
Can I use it without installing anything?
Recipients don't need to install anything — they just scan the QR with their phone camera. To create shares yourself, you need the StreetShare mobile app.

Sharing files

What file types can I share?
Any file. Images preview inline on the recipient page with a Save Photo button. Other file types (PDFs, zips, docs, etc.) show as a download card with the filename, size, and a Download File button.
Can I share more than one file at a time?
Yes — up to 10 files at once on Free, or 50 with Plus. Multiple files in one upload create a session at /s/{slug} where the recipient sees them all on one page.
Are captions supported?
Yes — captions are optional. For images, captions show up on the recipient page under the photo.
Can the recipient leave a contact?
Optionally, yes. Recipients can leave their email so the sender (often a photographer) can stay in touch. It's their choice — viewing the file doesn't require it.

Size limits & retention

How big can a single file be?
50 MB on the Free tier, 200 MB on Plus.
How much storage do I get?
1 GB total on Free, 25 GB total on Plus. Your home screen shows your current usage; the bar turns amber at 80% and red at 95%.
What happens when I hit the cap?
New uploads are blocked with a message asking you to delete files in My Files to free space. You don't lose existing shares.
How long do shared files stay up?
Free-tier files auto-delete 30 days after upload. Plus-tier files don't expire while the subscription is active. Expiry runs once daily at 03:00 UTC.
Can I recover a deleted file?
No. When a file is deleted (manually or by the 30-day expiry), the storage object and database row are removed and cannot be restored.

Accounts & subscriptions

How do I sign up?
Inside the StreetShare mobile app — that's also where you upgrade to Plus. The web at streetshare.net/sign-in is for managing your account and viewing your existing files.
How much is Plus?
$4.99/month or $29.99/year (annual saves about 50%), with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. See the pricing page for the full comparison.
How do I subscribe?
Tap Upgrade to Plus in the iOS or Android app to subscribe via the App Store or Google Play, or subscribe on the web at streetshare.net/account. However you subscribe, your Plus benefits apply to your account automatically.
What happens to my files when I subscribe?
Existing files are bumped to "permanent" status so they no longer expire while your subscription is active.
How do I cancel?
If you subscribed in the iOS or Android app, cancel from your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. If you subscribed on the web, cancel from streetshare.net/account. Either way, access continues until the end of your current paid period — after that, your files get a 30-day grace period before standard 30-day expiry resumes.
What if a payment fails?
Your store (Apple, Google, or our web billing) retries for a few days and you keep access during that window. If it can't collect, the subscription cancels and the 30-day grace period begins.
Can I get a refund?
App Store and Google Play purchases are refunded through Apple or Google under their policies. For subscriptions purchased on the web, email support@satoru.ink and we'll help.
Will the free tier always be free?
Yes. StreetShare is funded by Plus subscriptions, not the free tier — no ads, and we don't sell your data.
I forgot my password.
Can I delete my account?
Yes — Mobile Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your files, contacts, and account data. It can't be undone.
Can I export my data?
Email support and we'll send your file metadata as JSON within 30 days, per GDPR/CCPA.

Recipient experience

How does the recipient view the file?
They scan the QR with their phone camera, which opens the file's recipient page in their browser. Images preview inline with a Save Photo button. Other files show a download card.
Why doesn't the Save Photo button show for me?
On older browsers without the Web Share API for files, the page falls back to a regular download. iOS Safari and modern Chrome work best.
The QR code won't scan.
Make sure the printed or displayed code is well-lit and unobscured. The codes are high-contrast and should scan from up to about 30 cm on most modern phones.
The page is asking me for a password.
The sender protected that share with a password — ask them for it. Passwords are case-sensitive (stray spaces at the start or end are ignored).
It says the link has been disabled.
The sender turned that share link off. Only they can re-enable it from the app.

Privacy & security

Where are my files stored?
Supabase Storage in the US region.
Are recipient pages public?
Recipient pages (/f/{slug} and /s/{slug}) are not crawlable — they're disallowed in robots.txt — but anyone who has the link can view the file. Treat the link as the credential — or add a share password on top (Plus).
Can someone guess a link?
Slugs are 14 random characters from a 31-character alphabet — about 10²¹ combinations. Guessing one isn't practical, even at millions of attempts per second.
Can I password-protect a share?
Yes, with Plus: set a share password in the app's Settings and every new share asks recipients for it before showing anything — previews, filenames, and downloads are all locked. You can change or remove it per share before uploading. Tell recipients the password in person or by text; it's never in the link.
Can I turn a link off after sharing it?
Yes, free for everyone: in My Files, long-press a file (or use Select for several at once) and choose Revoke Link. Recipients see “this link has been disabled” until you re-enable it. The file stays in your account.
Where's the privacy policy and terms?

Troubleshooting

Upload is stuck.
Check your internet connection. Quit and relaunch the app. If it persists, try a smaller file or a different file type.
The recipient says the file expired.
Free-tier files expire 30 days after upload. Re-upload and share a fresh QR code.
Email verification didn't arrive.
Check your spam folder. Verification emails come from auth@satoru.ink. You can resend from the in-app banner.
I signed up on mobile but can't sign in to the web.
Confirm your email first using the verification link sent at signup. Mobile and web sessions are separate, so signing in on mobile doesn't carry over to web.
